  6. Array Software, first runner-up in SCO's 1993 Products of the Year contest
  7. (see separate listing.) It is intended for servers, particularly in
  8. client-server systems, where top performance is required and where there is
  9. heavy disk and access.  It allows SCO-based systems to support far more users
  10. and heavier loads than previously possible, competing effectively with more
  11. expensive mid-range systems.  By permitting perfectly balanced concurrent
  12. access to multiple hard drives, disk performance can be increased up to 3.5X
  13. as shown by Neal Nelson benchmark testing.  This is essential for adequate
  14. performance in Pentium or MPX servers where performance is almost always held
  15. back by the slower disk drives.  1776 Disk Striping works better than hardware
  16. disk caching because its benefits do not diminish as the database grows
  17. larger.  The unique 1776 ArrayDriver provided with this software minimizes
  18. disk head movement and system interrupts, thus enabling greater performance
  19. than other software striping products, on par with the fastest hardware-level
  20. array boards.  Simple installation and on-line storage management result in
  21. easy start-up and administration.
